He lived with his sister Yah Buor and her family for two weeks and moved to Philadelphia and later to Minnesota. In 2004, he moved back to Indianapolis and worked in a nursing home.Illness In October, 2005 Jackson felt the first severe sign of his illness when he collapsed while trying to enter his apartment on the Westside of Indianapolis. After gaining consciousness, he drove himself to the ER unit at Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis, but was discharged after a few days. Since then, he has been in and out of the hospital. In March 2006, the illness became serious with symptoms ranging from difficult swallowing to bleeding. These were followed by a sign that he had stroke, when his left leg and arm began to go numb and was immobile. We rushed him to Wishard Hospital where he was diagnosed with swelling in the brain, caused by infections which included toxoplasmosis, histoplasmosis and kaposis sarcoma. The doctor placed him on antibiotics for ten days. After spending almost a month in the hospital he was discharged and brought home. In less than a week, JacksonÂ’s condition became worse, and we rushed him to Wishard Hospital again. After a night, he appeared to be improving. On Wednesday, May 10, we spent the day with Jackson at the hospital and we were told he been released from the ER and assigned to a patient room on the second floor of the hospital. During our visit that day we had a great conversation with him, and he called several of his friends requesting for some Liberian food to be brought to him. We ended the visit with the expectation to come back and visit with him on Thursday. Last HourOn Thursday, 11th of May, at about 8: 30 AM, our phone rang and I quickly picked up the phone, expecting the call to be from Jackson. Instead, the person introduced himself as Dr. Jenkins Nicholas. Dr. Nicholas went on to explain that he had checked on Jackson at 7:45 AM and his blood pressure and temperature were all normal. But, at 8:00 AM, Jackson asked his nurse if he could take a shower. The nurse obtained the doctorÂ’s authorization and told Jackson it was ok to go ahead and take his shower. Jackson then went in to take his shower. In less than ten minutes the alarm in the bath went off. The nurse ran in to see what had happened. Upon her arrival, Jackson had already collapsed on the floor unconscious. Both the nurse and doctor performed CPR, but all in vain, and in about 10 minutes Jackson passed.Eternal life Now here is what is clear to me. Jackson is with the Lord in heaven. For many years Jackson was religious. But in these last days as he battled various infections, he built his relationship with Christ in a real way. Several times, he prayed for forgiveness, and asked God to give him a second chance. And now, he is with God.
